SKETCHBOOK: Reporting from the 2016 Venice Architecture Biennale
Every other year Venice hosts a major international architecture event where architects showcase new ideas and projects spread out over different pavilions, each with different themes. The 2010 Architecture Biennale and acollaboration with Archeworks is what brought me to Italy initially, so I was thrilled to be able to make it back to Venice this year. The theme of the 2016 Biennale, “Reporting From the Front”, directed by Chilean architect Alejandro Aravena, aimed to highlight political and social problems around the world and present architectural solutions. There was a wealth of innovation and inspiration on display from practitioners around the world (and a lot of really amazing vaulting techniques).
